Website Seo Tips

It’s no secret that Google loves updating its SEO algorithm. In fact, over the course of a year, they may make upwards of 500 changes!

SEO means optimizing your content so it shows up more often in search results. With so many changes to navigate, it’s easy to miss something.

And when you miss something with SEO, your content might as well be invisible. 😱

But if you get it right, you can reap the benefits of increased traffic, which leads to more conversions, improves lead generation, and boosts sales.

It’s easy to get confused by the information overload when you’re just starting with SEO. Too many tactics can discourage you from practicing your skills. However, it doesn’t have to be scary to learn more about search engine optimization.

That’s why we’ve analysed the key SEO trends for 2019 and what they mean to someone who’s just getting started with search engine optimization.

1. Start with optimizing your site for mobile devices
Mobile optimization is critical when you’re getting started with SEO. Start by testing your site’s performance and load speed across all devices.

People are spending more time on their phones every year, which means that a new SEO strategy cannot ignore mobile optimization. Moreover, it goes beyond improving e.g. the site speed on your site. SEO in 2019 is about understanding the ‘mobile consumers’ and how their searching habits differ when they are on the go comparing to a desktop user.

2.Quality Content is the King of SEO.

The very basic reason behind searching on Google is the accuracy and the quality result google gives.

But how Google search engine gives such an accurate result?

Whenever user feeds some query in the Google Search bar. Google crawler will start looking for the best result it can offer. Google themselves don’t curate information. They look for the websites, blogs, web pages having the best relevant answer, and start listing those websites in the SERP. The one having the best information will rank at the top three of SERP. But those top spots are not easy to get.

Regarding those top spots, you need to do research and develop content which has all the information’s relevant to those queries and key phrases. In today’s world content having the best information are awarded and those having not much neither get much reward. So, if you are owning a website, be sure to develop contents relevant to your niche. Never divert from your niche, because if you do Google may not understand what the purpose of your site is.

3. Optimize Your Headings and Titles

As mentioned in the introduction, I was often surprised to see that although some of my clients had paid big money for SEO services in the past, basic optimization things like keyword research and title optimization were not performed.

These being said, make sure your pages are targeting the proper keywords. The title tag has the most weight in search engine optimization, so make sure your keyword is there. The closer the most important keyword is to the beginning, the better. After that, you need to add the proper keywords to your Headings as well. The H1 is the most important heading so it should be the first thing on a page. In many cases, it’s the same as the title, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be.
If you have a PPC campaign running, you can inspire yourself from those titles. Many people think that PPC titles are unfit for SEO, but the truth is that the PPC titles are focused on conversion, which will benefit SEO greatly.

Same thing goes for the meta descriptions. Optimize the meta descriptions to convince people to click your link. Make sure you have your keywords there as well, otherwise the chances of it showing up are much lower.

4. Write to the Right People with Targeted Keywords

Your SEO content won’t reach the right people if you fail to optimize it with targeted keywords.

What do I mean by “targeted keywords”?

These are key terms and phrases for which your audience niche is actively searching.

To find these terms, you must first understand:

Who your audience segments are.
What kind of information they need.
Why they need that information.
Which keywords they’re using to find it.
This may seem like a lot, but it really isn’t if you break it down into a few activities:

Audience research: Identify the type of audience you think wants/needs what you offer. Then, go find where they congregate online. Talk to them. Survey them. Figure out their personal habits, preferences, demographics, and stats. (Marketing Land has a good guide on this process.)
Keyword research: Find relevant, profitable keywords that relate to your expertise, your products/services, and your audience’s search intent.
Topic research: Come up with content topics based on the targeted keywords you discovered and what your audience wants to learn/know.

5. Improve your page loading speed

Your page loading time is important for a few reasons.

First of all, if your load speed is too slow, Google will recognize this, and it will harm your ranking.

But a slow website will also impact the way your website visitors engage with your pages.

As a result, those negative interactions will hurt your ranking too.

Research shows 40% of visitors will abandon websites if the page takes longer than 3 seconds to load.

What’s even more shocking is that 80% of those visitors won’t return to that website.

This is terrible for your SEO ranking because it ultimately kills traffic to your site.

But on the flip side, if your page loads fast, people will keep coming back.

Google’s algorithm will recognize your website’s popularity and adjust your search ranking accordingly.

This makes it extremely important to optimize both your page speed and server response time.

6. Understand how users search

We tend to assume which keywords will perform better over others. Keyword testing is always a good idea but SEO nowadays is focusing more on understanding the search intent. It’s not enough to find an effective keyword that leads traffic to your site.

A long-term SEO strategy relies on search intent and the reasoning behind every search. Once you start understanding how your target audience is using search engines, then you’re able to optimize your site more successfully.

7.Regular branding to improve visibility.

Generally, website owners have a misconception that they have created the best content and Google will show them on the top. But unfortunately, it is naïve thinking.

No doubt, you have created best content but how will google understand that you have the best content?

You need to do regular Branding. For those who don’t understand branding. It is a way of promoting your website, contents, and blogs on various platforms of the World Wide Web to gain more audience attraction.  Once the audience starts to know more about your brand, if they are able to relate to your website they will share it with their friends.

Once your brand image starts to build Google will automatically notice your presence and will give results for the queries related to your niche.  So branding is going to be the X-factor for SEO in 2019. But avoid spanning for the sake of branding because once Google realizes your cheap tricks they will penalize or de-index your brand, website or blog from the SERP.

8. Prioritize Pages in Website Navigation

Navigation is the most important structure element on your entire website. Why? Well, because it’s the first thing linking to your ‘other’ pages and it’s usually at the very top of the page, giving those links a lot of weight.

You can see, for example, that pages optimized for some of our most important keywords are linked to right from the navigation menu. These links are found on every page on the website, making those pages look very important in Google’s eyes.

That’s actually one of the reasons the Homepage has such high authority on all sites. It’s because, usually, the logo on every page links to it.

9. Invest in Visuals

According to research from Skyword, articles containing relevant images enjoy 94 percent more views than articles without images.

That’s because we’re literally wired to notice images and respond to them.

However, the impact of inserting well-designed, high-quality images in your content is much greater than throwing in a couple of random, overused stock photos.

Your content will look more cohesive, professional, and authoritative with the right images, so it’s a good idea to invest in them for better SEO

10. Optimize your images

Pictures and other images are great for your website.

But you need to make sure they are optimized properly if you want these images to improve your SEO ranking.

I’m referring to factors such as the file format and size.

Huge images can slow your page loading time, which, as I’ve said, hurts your ranking.

Resize or compress your images to optimize them.

You can also use your images to sneak in keywords by naming them accordingly.

For example, let’s say you have a website that sells toiletries or other bath products.

Instead of naming an image something like “shampoo1,” you could name it “best shampoo for long hair.”

You can also strategically use keywords in the title of your image as well as the caption or description.

11. Analyse your existing search traffic

If you’re not sure how to get started and what to test then start by having a closer look at your current search traffic.

What are the best-performing pages? Which keywords is your audience using to access your content?

Analyse your top 10 posts and what they all have in common. Is it the quality of your content? The length of each post? Did you follow the best practices of on-site optimization?

Find the posts that work well as evergreen content and think of new ways to update them. A closer look at your search traffic and current SEO performance can even help you update your content calendar with topics that your audience would appreciate.

12. Mobile Indexing is the next big step

It is no news that mobile users have taken over the Search Engine by storm. Google has recently published that they are experiencing more search traffic from mobile devices in comparison to desktop devices. Google has already stated that they are going for mobile first indexing and they have already started the process. Recently, they have embedded Mobile Indexing feature in Google Search Console previously called Webmaster tool.

So, it’s high time for those who are still unaware of the recent postings.

We recommend every website owner to pay more attention, on mobile optimization of your website. Because in future, mobile s is going to be the golden key in terms of SEO. Because all potential clients are looking for the information/services on their mobile device. Maybe you are reading this article on your mobile device

13. Implement Tracking on Your Site

Tracking is extremely important. If you don’t track your rankings and traffic, you can’t spot the issues with your website.

What pages do the users leave quickly? You know you can improve those first, especially if the search volume for them is high!

Also, if you don’t monitor your organic search traffic you can’t know if you’re making any progress and, worse, you won’t know if the search engines penalized you or your rankings have dropped.

You can use Google Search Console and Google Analytics to monitor your organic search traffic and issues with your pages. They’re fairly easy to install as long as you have access to your server. You might even be able to install them via a plugin for your CMS. I recommend using Google Tag Manager to implement all tracking codes. They will be easier to manage afterwards.

If you want to go to the next level, you can try things like HotJar, which creates a heatmap of where your users click most on a page. However, that’s a lot harder to understand and improve correctly, so an experienced person is required.

14. Do Original Research

Original research is a giant link magnet for SEO content.

If you can include fresh statistics, studies, information, and research in your pieces, you’ll be throwing out tons of opportunities for other websites to link to you and cite your findings, not to mention incredible value for your industry and audience.

According to the 2018 State of Original Research for Marketing report by Mantis Research and BuzzSumo, 56 percent of marketers who use original research in their content say it exceeded or met expectations.

15.Break up your content with header tags

Headings are another way to help improve the user experience on your website.

They break up the content and make it easier to read or skim.

Plus, headers make everything look more appealing, which is always beneficial.

If your website is just a wall of text, it’s going to discourage people from spending a long time on it.

As a result, your SEO ranking will suffer.

16.  Install an SSL Certificate

SSL has become a ranking factor since 2014. If you’re wondering why, the answer is pretty simple. Because of security. Cybercrime has been on the rise constantly and more and more people share more and more sensitive data on the web.

Installing an SSL should be pretty easy. Most of the time, your hosting provider can help you. However, there is a simpler solution which is also free: CloudFlare. You simply have to change your domain’s nameservers to point out to CloudFlare and then CloudFlare will act as a filter, blocking spam and bad IPs from reaching your server.

17.Fix any broken links

If you’re using authority websites for hyperlinks, you shouldn’t have to worry about the links breaking.

But it can still happen.

Broken links can crush your SEO ranking.

Plus, it doesn’t look good when a link you provide to your visitors brings them to an invalid website.

You can use tools like  https://www.deadlinkchecker.com/ to search for links with errors on your website:

You can use this to check your entire website or specific pages.

If you sign up, you can also set up your account to get checked automatically.

Anytime a link goes dead, you’ll be contacted right away so you can replace it.

You can also use this resource to monitor other websites relevant to your industry.

How can that help your SEO?

Well, if a link goes dead on another website, you can notify the webmaster of that page and ask them to replace the dead link with a link to your website instead.

You’re doing them a favor by letting them know about a problem with their site, so they might be willing to do you a favor in return.

This will drive more traffic to your website. Outbound links from other websites to your page will help improve your SEO ranking too.
